Welcometo the Arizona Opera Chorus website. Congratulations to all choristers for a very successful 2008/2009 season. As we approach the Summer months and rehearsals for the 2009/2010 opera season, there are three very important events that I need to bring to your attention.
First, members of the Arizona Opera Chorus and the Arizona Opera Orchestra will be performing in our fifth annual concert fundraiser series, Backstage at the Opera, on May 30th in Tucson and June 6th in Phoenix. We are excited in having members of the orchestra join us for the first time this year. Details regarding these concerts are tabbed in the index to the left. Many of you are selling tickets to this event. Please help us in getting the word out to your family, friends and colleagues. Tickets can be purchased by calling 520-742-3942 in Tucson and 602-999-0456 in Phoenix.
Second, auditions for small roles for the 2009-2010 season will be held this coming May 26 from 6-9pm in Phoenix at the offices of the Phoenix Boys Choir, and on May 27 from 6-9pm in Tucson at the Ashby Lohse rehearsal hall. All interested candidates should email rmauro@azopera.com for an appointment time. Please indicate if there is a specific role you are interested in auditioning for. Roberto Mauro e-mailed a list of available small roles to all choristers on April 6th. Interested candidates should have three arias in contrasting languages and styles, memorized and prepared to sing for the panel. Please note that the panel will not necessarily hear more than one aria from candidates..
Finally, under the provisions of our AGMA Agreement with Arizona Opera, the company is required to send contracts to choristers hired for the 2009-2010 season no later than June 15, 2009. Please ensure that you return your signed contract copies promptly to Arizona Opera.
